Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup whole milk (or unsweetened plant-based alternative)
  • 2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender
  • 6 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2–3 teaspoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk and lavender over medium heat until simmering. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture in two parts, alternating with the lavender-infused milk.
  5. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 45–50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar with enough milk and vanilla until smooth; drizzle over the warm bread.
