  • 1 1/2 cups warm milk

  • 1 large egg (at room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 1 1/3 cups almond meal
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk with sugar and sprinkle yeast on top; let it sit for about five minutes until bubbly.
  2. Mix in melted butter and egg until combined. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread filling mixture made from softened butter, almond meal, sugars, extracts, and salt over it.
  6. Roll tightly into a log and slice into pieces; place in a greased pan and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for about 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
