  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (for crumb topping)
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar (for crumb topping)
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (for crumb topping)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 8 Tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature (for crumb topping)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Roll out your pie dough and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan.
  3. Peel, core, and slice apples; toss with cinnamon.
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, whisk in flour, then add water and sugar; simmer until thickened.
  5. Pour sauce over apples and mix well.
  6. For the crumb topping, combine flour, sugars, cinnamon, salt, and butter until crumbly; fold in pecans.
