  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tbsp heavy whipping cream (for brushing)
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar (packed) – for icing
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (diced – for icing)
  • 2 tbsp heavy whipping cream (for icing)
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar (sifted)
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gently fold in the chopped pecans.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and egg until smooth. Pour into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined.
  6. Turn out the dough onto a floured surface, pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick, then cut into triangles or squares.
  7. Chill shapes for at least 30 minutes before baking to ensure fluffiness.
  8. Brush tops with heavy cream before baking for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before drizzling with icing made from melted butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar.
