  • 2 oz apple pie filling
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 23 tsp water (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. 1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm milk, water, and yeast in a small bowl; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
  2. 2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. 3. Combine the yeast mixture and egg with the flour mix; stir gently until just combined.
  4. 4. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour after forming it into a ball wrapped in plastic.
  5. 5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out chilled dough into a rectangle.
  6. 6. Spread apple pie filling and sprinkle with cardamom down the center of the dough. Fold and seal edges.
  7. 7. Shape into an oval or horseshoe and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. 8. Bake for 22–25 minutes until golden brown.
