Ingredients

  • 3 and 3/4 cups bread flour
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 envelope active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 and 1/2 cups warm water, 110 – 115 degrees (F)
  • 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons olive oil (divided)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/3 cup fresh parsley, minced
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt or garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese (finely grated)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix bread flour, granulated sugar, active dry yeast, and salt.
  2. Slowly add warm water while stirring until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 16 pieces. Roll each piece into long ropes and tie into knots.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place knots on parchment-lined baking sheet and brush with melted butter mixed with garlic and parsley.
  7. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
