  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, cloves, and nutmeg.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Mix in molasses, egg, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Chill the dough for 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Roll tablespoon-sized balls of dough first in granulated sugar then powdered sugar.
  8. Place on baking sheets about 2 inches apart and bake for 10-12 minutes.
