  • 4 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 3 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup whole or 2% milk (warmed to 110°F)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 beaten egg (for brushing the tops)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for topping)
  • flaky sea salt (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Lightly butter the bottom and sides of a 9×13 pan.
  2. In a small pot, melt the butter and add minced garlic; cook until fragrant.
  3. In a stand mixing bowl, combine flour, parsley, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  4. Add warmed milk, egg, and cooled garlic butter mixture to the dry ingredients; knead until smooth.
  5. Cut the kneaded dough into 12 equal portions and shape into smooth balls.
  6. Place in the prepared baking pan and cover to let rise until doubled in size (1-2 hours).
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  8. Brush the tops with beaten egg wash and bake for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Prepare more garlic butter while baking, then brush over warm rolls and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
